Barnsdale Hall Wedding Photography

The Venue was Barnsdale Hall Hotel, Barnsdale near Oakham, Rutland.

This venue offers stunning views overlooking Rutland water, set in the centre of Rutland very close to Oakham, Rutland's Market town; this is the perfect setting for your wedding and wedding photography.

Booking their wedding photography at Barnsdale

The couple came to visit my Oakham based portrait studio and gallery after I was recommended to them by a work friend, who had recently attended her sister's wedding and was so impressed at my relaxed style and informal approach to wedding photography.

After a nice cup of tea, and looking at numerous wedding albums, from many Rutland weddings including samples of wedding photography at Barnsdale Hall Hotel, the couple were overjoyed that they had found a wedding photographer that they were keen to book.

Before the special day

I arranged to meet the couple at Barnsdale hotel before the special day to talk through their individual requirements for their wedding photography, and to discuss their options and settings that they really wanted to include in their photographs.

The wedding day

On the day, I arrived in good time to meet the Bride and her bridesmaids in the bridal suite, situated in the original hall of Barnsdale Hotel. I like to spend up to an hour or so photographing the Bride and all wedding day preparations, before I meet with the Groom, usually in the bar!

The Second hour or so was spent with the Groom and Groomsmen continuing the wedding photography in a relaxed and informal style.

The Civil Ceremony Photography

The Bride and Groom chose Barnsdale hall hotel, the Edith Weston Suite in particular because it gave them the option to have their wedding ceremony and reception at the same venue.

During the ceremony I continued the wedding photography coverage through the exchange of rings and that all important 'first kiss'

Upon leaving the civil ceremony room, confetti was thrown and the celebration started.

Formal wedding photography at Barnsdale hall

After photographing the couple meeting and greeting their friends and guests, it was time to start the 'formal' part of the day.

Typically, 20 to 30 different groups are chosen by the couple to be photographed, and today was no exception.

This is where the beautiful setting of Barnsdale really creates the perfect backdrop for your wedding photography. I used the raised patio area for all larger group shots, with Rutland water, and Oakham in the background for the perfect scenery.

The smaller shots were done in a very much more relaxed style of photography, often getting guests to hold hands, have a little run, or even pick each other up!

The Bride and Groom's photography

After the group shots, myself, and the Bride and Groom left the party enjoying drinks on the lawn for some intimate photographs.

This was time for the couple to enjoy each other's company really for the first time of the day, and for me to photograph their natural movements. This is an important part of the wedding photography, but by no means does it need to take hours, as I am sure yourselves, like the couple here want to get back to their friends and relatives.

Photographing the rest of the wedding day

The wedding photography coverage continued through the main meal, the speeches, cake cutting and first dance. By which time, all wedding day formalities had been taken part in, albeit in a relaxed style and it was time to leave the couple to their evening do, to dance the night away.

After the wedding day photography

On return from their honeymoon, the Bride and Groom couldn't wait to see their Wedding photographs! A pre wedding get together had been previously been arranged at my portrait studio in Oakham for the couple to collect their photographs from their special day at Barnsdale Hall. They were over the moon with their wedding photographs.
